After a long period of silence on all channels, Altex.Exchange posted an announcement today regarding what is happening with their exchange:

A quick headsup from us: We have been experiencing issues with two of our listed coins (they were still affected by the double counting bug recently found in the monero codebase, even after updating the software). That bug caused a big loss in coins for the exchange and we have put our main currency under maintenance so the people who exploited the bug can no longer withdraw. After a really long investigation we found out that we still lost a big amount. This was caused by the coins software, it was not a bug in our system. We already contacted the developers and we are trying to find a way to solve this. Furthermore our main developers have been on holiday for the past week. We are still a small exchange and cannot afford to offer many developer jobs yet. We will suspend trading for now and keep writing updates on our twitter. We are trying to resolve this situation ASAP, we hope you understand.
The loss of coins to the double-count bug is an unfortunate outcome and we wish them all the luck in recovering what they can. The loss of coins and a developer take a one-week holiday is the reasoning behind the outages, however no reasoning was given to why it took almost five weeks to communicate what was happening to their users.
Trading has been suspended however many withdrawal options have been activated, and we have taken the opportunity to transfer our DigitalNote balance from their exchange to the safety of our own wallets.
We will continue to monitor Altex.Exchange and when or if trading does resume, we will pass this information along. Until then we’d repeat our warning to use caution if using their site until their issues have been fully resolved.
